La Forge 11 Bastille Day Weekend

by La Forge on 01/30/17

La Forge 11th Anniversary Party and Bastille Day

Saturday 15 July 2017 until late

We have booked out La Forge from Wednesday 12th July to Tuesday 18th July 2017. Most people will arrive on Friday morning and leave Sunday evening but you can stay for longer if you wish.

Main Info: Friends, family and Select Club members are welcome. Brittany Ferries: Portsmouth to Cherbourg £63.00 per person return with our Club Voyage travel club code F77789. These prices will increase nearer the time.

Ferry Times: Friday morning 7.30 to 11.30, return Sunday evening 20.30 to 22.30. All you need to do is book your ferry http://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/to Cherbourg

Free transport (14 spaces) from the ferry to La Forge or bring your own vehicle. You are more than welcome to bring your own car or camper van as there is ample parking available.

We'll be providing a BBQ, cheese, snacks, beer, wine and cider. We will be asking for a small contribution towards the costs by charging for room and camping accommodation.

The detail:

This event is to celebrate our 11th year of running La Forge as a holiday home. It is open to all of our friends, family and select club members of La Forge and will be running from Friday 14th July to Sunday 16th July, with the main event being the party on Saturday night. There will be music and possibly some live performances! We'll also be setting up a treasure hunt across the Normandy countryside.

We are arranging this to coincide with the Bastille Day celebrations which commemorate the events of the French revolution on 14th July 1789. Probably best not to mention it if you have a royal blood line! In recent years sleepy Le-Plessis-Lastelle has been brought to life by a huge firework display at le donjon (paid for by the residents) which we hope will take place on the Saturday.

We are going to set up a camping area in the garden again so bring your own tent and sleeping bag. We can take your things across in advance if you are going to be arriving as foot passengers, and Florence will put your tent up for you!

We intend to bulk buy the food for a barbecue and all the beer, cider, wine, cheese and soft drinks in advance. We will be charging a fee for accommodation to cover some of the costs, all rates below shown are per room per night:

Room 1: Double bed en suite. £40 ideally would suit a couple.

Room 2: 5 single beds. £40 ideally would suit 5 friends or family sharing.

Room 3: Double bed. £35 ideally would suit a couple.

Camping £7 per person per night.

On the Sunday we will be returning you to the port of Cherbourg where you can have a look around the shops or perhaps more sensibly pop into the Eldorado bar to sample some locally brewed ales.

You can of course stay with us for longer if you wish, especially if you would like to help set up. Without the support that we received last time I don't think we could have made the party happen. Man of the year: Andy Larder!

Please let us know if you would like to attend and we will book you a place on a first come first served basis. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Andy, Jess, Kev and Lizzie
