By booking through Holiday France Direct you can claim a 20% discount off your Brittany Ferry crossing. There is the option to set sail on the fastcat Normandie Express, which takes as little as three hours from Portsmouth to Cherbourg, or perhaps you would prefer to cruise across by day (or night) taking in the opportunity to dine in style. Thank you to all who stayed with us in 2019!
by La Forge on 12/12/19
Merci beaucoup to everybody who stayed at La Forge during 2019.
We have had a super year welcoming both new and returning holiday makers from the UK, Europe and even as far afield as the United States of America. It's been a pleasure seeing La Forge in full swing throughout the summer months. We have been reviewed and rated at 9.4/10!
Next year promises to be busy again. We already have a booking for August and expect more in the coming months. There is still plenty of availability including the D-Day commemorations week at the beginning of June.
Don't forget that you can book through Holiday France Direct on the following link:

La Forge 4
by La Forge on 07/01/19
Well this is it, La Forge IV is approaching like a freight train, and we
are just about ready to roll...
You'll see that the t-shirts are ordered, the beer is on it's way (thanks
to the Bad Manners Brewery), the band is ready and Lards's Disco is
buzzing.
So to make sense of all this we've put together an itinerary which you can
follow for the weekend's entertainment:
Friday 12th July
We'll be meeting you at the ferryport in Cherbourg at 13.00 French time
ready to transport you to La Haye du Puits. There you will be able to pick up
some additional items (probably not amaretto!) from the supermarche or local
shops; and then partake in a relaxing afternoon experiencing French cafe culture. We'll do a quick reconnaissance (why can't the French come up with
words like that?) on what's on/open when we arrive on Wednesday.
Then it's onto La Forge for a relaxing evening of cheese, wine, and UNCLE
ERIC'S quiz. We have some returning former winners. We hope to have put up
(avoiding that word) the tents so hopefully it's just a case of hitting the
ground running.
Saturday 13th July
A lazy continental breakfast followed by some energetic kayaking at
Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte. Some of us will be remaining at La Forge (and we may
even visit Gorges for a few beers). We'll sort out the respective groups on the
day.
The evening is the BBQ and Fancy Dress party (theme British pub names), the
band and the disco courtesy of Lards! We'll have the full band set up so if
anyone fancies doing a few numbers then feel free!
Sunday 14th July is Bastille Day so after another breakfast it's open plan.
There are any number of options available as long as we catch that ferry at
17.00! Beach anyone?
Hopefully we'll have enough beer, wine and cider to keep the show on the
road, but if you need spirits to get you into the spirit we'll be stopping so
you can get supplies.
Guest Review D-Day 75
by La Forge on 06/12/19
We were delighted to receive this lovely review from a group of Americans staying at La Forge during the D-Day 75 Commemorations:
"We used La Forge as our base for a D Day trip. It worked out perfectly. We had two couples and a two individuals. There was ample space. The kitchen had plenty of kitchen supplies to cook anything we wanted. There was a super market pretty close. It was far enough out of the major areas that we could get in and out without to much traffic but close enough to see everything we wanted. I can't wait to bring another group this area of France is amazing. The property is super clean. There is a large grass area for parking so if you have more than one car it won't be a problem. I looked at a lot of house and discovered like this one most do not have internet in the area. We were able to set our hotspot in a window and our Orange card worked just fine. Remember the walls are a couple feet thick so reception in the house is tough. Our stay was magnificent and we would highly recommend this location again."
